How do I Determine if visionPROBE is Configured Correctly?

Before running the following tests, ensure you have correctly installed the WindRiver visionCLICK debugger software and that the visionPROBE II cable is powered and correctly connected between your computer and your A7 development board.

Step 1From the visionCLICK directory \estii folder, double-click VPTest.exe.

After launching, VPTest will perform some basic diagnostic checks to ensure that the correct drivers are installed and the parallel port is correctly configured. Verify that all port tests PASSED.

Step 2If all tests passed, click START to begin probe diagnostics. If any of the tests FAILED, go to What if VPTest failed?

The VPTest program then tests the electronics within the visionPROBE II probe hardware.

Step 3Check that all diagnostics passed, then click EXIT!

The tests that exercise the probe hardware leave the visionPROBE II in an undefined state. Remove and re-apply power to visionPROBE to reset the electronics.

What if VPTest Failed? The most likely reason for a failed test is that the parallel port on your computer is not configured correctly in ECP mode. Double-check your hardware setup and connections. For additional information, refer to the visionPROBE II Hardware Installation Guide.pdf file located in the \UserManuals\visionPROBEII directory on the visionCLICK CD-ROM.
